Our Dad was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2009. He was well known for his clean healthy living . He never smoked or drank alcohol. He maintained a healthy diet and kept active but this didnt stop him from getting this devastating incurable lung disease. As time went on he continued to live his life to the full, gardening, going on holidays, visiting his family in mauritius every year and enjoying family life with his wife , children and grandchildren. In september 2012 he started to become more breathless. This is when we thought he may need to start some treatment not expecting that the disease would spread so rapidly over the following months. Our Dad who was used to being so fit and active had 3 emergency hospital admissions and required permanent home oxygen. With rapid weight loss and increased hardening of the lungs every movement became exhausting. The physical, psychological and social effects of this disease are just as devastating as any other terminal illness but there are not as many medical treatments or support available for people with the condition and their families. Please help raise money to help find a cure for pulmonary fibrosis and to help support people living with the condition in memory of our brave and wonderful father Prem who lost his battle against the disease in February 2013.
